A true source of local pride, this activity was at the heart of Cadenet’s community life during the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1906, there were no fewer than 206 basket makers for just 2,000 inhabitants in Cadenet!
Founded in 1988, the Basketry Museum is located on the very site of the former “La Glaneuse” basketry workshop. Today, it houses an exceptional and ever-growing collection, enriched over time thanks to the generosity of Cadenet’s residents, many of whom have had a personal or family connection with a basketry workshop at some point in their lives.
